Titian, Self Portrait, Madrid, Museo del Prado (Artstor)

The relationship between Philip II and Titian was unique because of the respect they gave to each other and the admiration that Philip had for Titian’s artworks. Philip II choose Titian as the artist that would bring the modern Venetian Renaissance style to Spain. In the mythologies that Titian creates in the poesie, Titian was influenced by classical poses and works by Renaissance artists. He also incorporated his own style that would influence Spanish artists that latter arrive in the Spanish court. Without the relationship between Titian and Philip II the art of Spain would have been very different.
