John Ruskin was one of the formost art and social critics of the 19th century, writing on the Pre-Raphaelites, J.M.W Turner, Venetian architecture, the conditions of the working class, and socialism. From his writing on Venetian architecture we can find the foundations of his political writiings that would dominate his later life and legacy.
